About

The purpose of this blog is to keep you updated about PLANE ( which will launch in June 30th 2012) and share information within our interest areas of: educator professional development, ICT, peer coaching, 21st Century Classrooms, pedagogy, games-based-learning, and innovation in education.

What is PLANE?

PLANE is an acronym for Pathways for Learning, Anywhere, anytime – a Network for Educators.

PLANE is an innovative and fun educator community, networking space, and virtual world; providing accredited professional learning, courses, multi-media resources, ICT skills development, e-portfolio, collaborative tools, games-based-learning, and peer coaching.

More detail about PLANE's suite of features is available on our What We Offer page.

Our Mission: To utilise cutting edge technology and best practice methodology to ubiquitously empower all educators to learn, create, collaborate, innovate, and transform their teaching practices to, in turn, inspire and enable their own 21st Century students.

Who is backing PLANE?

PLANE has been funded as part of Australia's  Digital Education Revolution and is run as a consortium consisting of: the NSW Department of Education and Community, the Catholic Education Commission NSW, the Association of Independent Schools NSW and the Council of Deans of Education, together with industry partners Adobe and Microsoft. This project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations through the ICT Innovation Fund.

Who can join PLANE?

PLANE is for ALL NSW school educators:

  • K-12;
  • cross-sectoral (from the public school system to Catholic and Independents);
  • every career stage (pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, school leaders, and teacher educators – whether working full-time, part-time or casually);
  • across curriculum and speciality areas;
  • accessed from anywhere (metropolitan, regional, and rural – whether at school or in-home);
  • anytime.

PLANE will initially be piloted in NSW Australia, launching June 30th 2012.  We hope further states and territories will be added in late 2012/2013.

How do I get involved?

At this point PLANE is still under development, however we do have the following opportunities to get involved:

      Hi Claire,
      The purpose of the focus group is gather information from those who will use the PLANE platform so that we can define our requirements better. Hence there isn’t a lot of information to give you yet. All I can say is either watch this space or follow @planejourney on twitter for regular updates on our progress.
      Thanks for taking an interest and we hope to have you board the plane soon.
      Cheers
      Roisin

    Please contact me. This is an important, exciting, innovative direction. As the current NSW SPC elected Executive member with responsibility for Technology I believe it would be important for both myself and the current reference group to have more information on Plane and its potential. Thanks, Tracy
